Types of households

Agritourism is a form of tourism in a household where agricultural production exists. Besides accommodation this household also offers guests the possibility of brief, one-day excursions and enjoying gastronomic delicacies from their own produce.

Rural vacation houses are traditional Istrian houses, which have been completely renovated according to environmental conditions and using natural materials. The entire house is rented to guests and even though guests have complete privacy, contact with their host still exists.

Rural B & B (bed & breakfast) is the name of the household that, besides an overnight stay also offers breakfast, made of the host’s home produce. The host lives within the household and guests are practically accommodated within his house. Nevertheless, since the host’s living spaces and those of the guest are separate (especially the bedrooms and the bathrooms), there is still privacy.

Rural family hotels are small, intimate hotels, located in old buildings; their capacity is usually not more than 35 beds. These hotels are managed by their owners and interaction still exists between guests and their host. The offer is personalized and there are numerous additional facilities. The guest, besides the hotel offer itself, may even be given advice regarding his destination. These hotels produce some of their own products.

Holiday on the wine trail means households specialized in wine production. The guest is offered an introduction to wine production and naturally, wine tastings. Since the distance from the winery to the bedroom is very short, guests do not need to use their cars and can therefore allow themselves a little more to drink.
