Istria by bike...

Explore Istria on two wheels from the mountainous north to the coastal area, from north to south, from the eastern to the western coast, on nearly 2,600 kilometers where sixty marked bike trails are stretched.

Cycling trails have covered Istria just like a spider web. Everyone can find something for themselves. You can expect to find more difficult or less difficult biking trails and for the heart and soul, we recommend the trail along the Istrian coast – along the Cape Kamenjak, from Rovinj to San Polo cove, around Vrsar and Poreč, Umag and Rabac as well as those to the medieval towns of central Istria.

The effort that is necessary to put in order to visit the beautiful hills will be rewarded with beautiful views of the unspoiled nature of Istria, where villages and hamlets are "hidden". There are the ancient medieval towns with distinctive church bell towers.

With the spring around the corner, sports and recreational activities are starting to gain popularity, bringing new opportunities for exciting and unusual events in the landscapes of Istria.

The cycling through Asparagus recreational cycling race will be held on 14th of April and was inspired by the self-grown plant itself, which has been an important ingredient of the Istrian national cuisine since ancient times. Aside from offering insight into the culinary tradition, the event reveals the beauty of cycling routes, preserved nature and the cultural heritage in the surrounding area of Buje in all their glory.

Don't miss the tourist - family cycling race Limes Slow Bike which will be held on 15th of April 2012. Recreational MTB bike ride through the woods Kontija and the acrobatic bike show at the end, the Vrsar waterfront.

The Istria Valamar Terra Magica is an international cycling, three-day race which is held from 04. - 06.05.2012. The race stage takes place along the beautiful area of Poreč.

One of the highlights is the route of the former Parenzana railway. It has been turned into a real attraction for hikers and cyclists. If you pass at least over a part of its route, you will be thrilled by its tunnels, bridges and viaducts, as well as by its beautiful woodlands and small towns at the top of the hills among whose town walls you can taste delicious gastronomic specialties of Istria
