Praises from abroad to Istria

The reputation of Istria has continued in 2012, as one of the world's top destinations after receiving numerous awards in 2011 from leading travel guides like Lonely Planet and National Geographic Traveler. The Istrian peninsula is further praised by most tourist guides and journalists.

The well-known National Geographic Traveler magazine has again, this year, included Istria on the list of top 20 destinations for 2012. It praises the rich Istrian cuisine, medieval towns, long bike trails and its sea.

According to the latest research of the famous ADAC automobile club, Istria has, for the second time, become the most popular regional destination of German motorists. Research results were published in ADAC Motorwelt magazine, in over 13 million issues.
Croatia is placed on the 3rd place as favorite destination for German campers. As for favourite countries, Croatia is highly positioned on the 3^rd place.

In the latest choice of 10 recommended world destinations, the editors of Sherman's Travel, the popular U.S. website for travellers shermanstravel.com, praise Istria as one of the 10 emerging wine regions in the world. They present Istria as a place where you can taste excellent wines, which are that good thanks to good climate and excellent location of vineyards.

Another influential American website, Fodors.com has included Istria among the most interesting travelling destinations in 2012 in the world. Autumn is recommended as the best season to visit Istria to taste grapes (wine), olives and truffles and because of the warm weather. Furthermore, the editorial board concluded that the best truffles in the world do not come from Italy, but from Istria!

Istrian white truffles are praised by the web edition of the famous Spanish magazine Hola! Istria is recommended as a great destination for an autumn culinary weekend, inspired by white truffles which represent our peninsula as a Mecca for gastro-tourists from around the world. The highlight is on the diverse gastronomy offer in restaurants.
