Top Events in August

You have decided to spend your holiday in Istria, but you are not yet familiar with all the events which our region has to offer? We have prepared a list of August top events which will make your holiday even more interesting.

This year, the town of Umag hosts the Kanegra Beach Festival - one of the best beach festivals! For those interested in gastronomy, there is the Gnam Gnam Fest in Novigrad offering excellent fish dishes. If, on the other hand, you are a fan of astronomy, astrology, mysticism and mythology, then you should not miss the Astro party Lunasa.

If you are staying in Poreč (or just visiting), we invite you to Jazz Music Nights which will take place in the Poreč Lapidarium throughout August. You surely will not regret coming, excellent concerts are waiting for you!
The Gramperijada, a unique touristic fest dedicated to potato will be held in Kaštelir from August 3rd to August 5th

Small fishing villages Vrsar and Funtana will delight you during August with their traditional fishing festivals and seafood specialties prepared of the fishermen's daily catch and offered from their boats.

The Rovinj exhibition Grisia will be held on August 12th in the street of the same name, in the old town core.
For all jazz fans and those who are about to become one, in Bale, The Last Minute Open Jazz Festival will be held. Last year, more than 120 musicians performed during 5 days. 

The Amphitheater in Pula will this year again host some of world's biggest stars like f.e.Tom Jones.
At the end of August, Europe's largest festival - Outlook Festival Croatia 2012 will take place in Štinjan, near Pula.
Fažana presents its fishermen tradition with the programme called What do fishermen know (Ća ribari znaju) while in Vodnjan you can enjoy the international folklore festival called Leron. Also, you have the opportunity to taste typical Istrian products every Monday at the waterfront in Medulin.

The cultural event Labin Art Republic offers concerts and performances with the unavoidable night tour of the town. Get to know the history of one of the most beautiful medieval towns as well as the story about the Labin goddess Sentona - the patron of travelers.
The fishermen village Rabac organizes on August 18th the Rabac adventure race, where sport fans show their skills in: running, swimming, kayaking, climbing and jumping off a cliff.

Sport fans will not miss the recreational bike race Grožnjan by night. While those more interested in cars will enjoy the experience of the Days of vintage cars BUZET CLASSIC 2012.
If you like sweets, we advise you to visit the exhibition of traditional Istrian cakes Sweet Istria in Vižinada on August 14th.

For those who still did not have the opportunity to visit the Istria Inspirit events (there are 9 of them), August is the right time to take a unique journey through time and experience the magic possible only in Istria.
You will get to attend the robbery of the Euphrasian basilica, witness the witch trial in Svetvinčenat, see the escape from the Pazin Castle and enjoy a romantic love story in the Lighthouse of Savudrija. The 20th century spirit can be experienced in Buzet while the intrigues of the Roman Empire in Medulin.
