The Night of St. Lawrence
13.08.2012
An event celebrating the romantic spirit of Rovinj - Guest stars: Natali Dizdar and Marko Tolja
On August 13, 2012 the town of Rovinj will host an event called the Night of St. Lawrence for the sixth consecutive year, in order to enrich the tourism offer and introduce new attractive elements in the promotion of Rovinj as a romantic destination in accordance with the slogan "a romantic Mediterranean". Namely, that night, the meteor shower known as "the tears of St. Lawrence" can be clearly seen with the naked eye under dark skies. For this occasion, street lights on the waterfront are replaced by torches to emphasize the romantic atmosphere. Many terraces are lit by flickering candle lights and romantic music completes the atmosphere. Subdued lighting effects illuminating the main square add to the charm of this romantic town.
The program begins with a promenade and a dance group performing dressed as court ladies under the flickering torchlight, accompanied by musicians, thus signifying the whole event. Romantic music, operatic arias, evergreens and klapa music (a cappella) play from the various stages set around the town.
