Istrian shells - scallops, mussels, sea truffles, Noah’s arks, queen scallops and oysters have a special flavour owing to clean sea. They are brought to the plate both wild-grown and cultivated. The shell cultivation tradition can be traced back to antiquity and scallops are most frequently harvested from the waters off the west coast of Istria, in the vicinity of a fresh water source, primarily at the estuary of the river of Mirna, known for premium samples.

6th chocolate & wine festival
Passionate chocolate lovers always on the quest for more in the sweet world of chocolate tastes and flavours are invited to the Choco & Wine fest in Brtonigla, revealing the new trends of pairing chocolate with wine to its visitors.
The festival will be held on Saturday, 17th and Sunday 18th February 2018.
On that day, you will be able to enjoy a menu that will, in a special way, blend chocolate and wine.
The Brtonigla Adventure Trekk, a trekking race, attracting over 250 participants from Croatia, Italy and Slovenia every year, will be held in the framework of the festival. This date was purposefully chosen for the race to show that “sports and chocolate go together”.
International cycling race
Plava Laguna Grand Prix is a one-day race on the international calendar of the World Cycling Organization UCI (Union Cycliste International), open for all cyclists in categories Men Elite and U-23, that is for UCI Kontinental teams, national teams, regional teams and clubs.

International fair of food, drinks and equipment for tourism
Promohotel 2018 – 33rd International Fair of Food, Drinks and Equipment for Tourism will be held at Žatika Sport Centre from 21-24 February 2018. The fair will be held on 4500 m2 of indoor and 500 m2 of outdoor exhibition area.
The fair is aimed at the entire Horeca sector, owners, managers and workers of:
- hotel chains,
- small family hotels,
- cafés and restaurants,
- holiday homes,
- other accommodation facilities.
The exhibition programme includes the following: hotel furnishing and supplies; foodservice and catering equipment and supplies; food, drink, and confectionery; hot drinks machines; chilling/freezing equipment; retail and industrial bakery/confectionery equipment; alcoholic beverages and craft beer; paper products and decorative supplies; heating and renewable energy sources; soft furnishings; beds and mattresses; spa programmes; professional cleaning equipment; hospitality interiors and exteriors; flooring and aluminium windows; wooden furniture; computer programming; business consultancy and education, etc.
Visitors will learn about new technologies, trends, products and services, which can be used to improve their businesses.
Many of the products exhibited can also be very useful in the household. The intention is to present current trends in hospitality and tourism, thus contributing to the development and promotion of the city and the region.
