• Diners Club Awards 2010: the readers of the German Diners Club Magazin elected Istria among the ''Europe's most beautiful regions''

  The Diners Club Magazin, specialized in lifestyle tendencies, this year organized once more the international competition Diners Club Awards 2010, in which the readers elect the best of the best ''stuff'' in various categories: fancy cars, best hotels with spa and wellness centres, European golf courses, sailing ships e cruisers, the best romantic hotels in the German speaking areas, the most innovative chefs, luxury jewellery producers, as well as Europe's most beautiful and desired regions. And right in this, last one category, Istria has been elected in the inner circle of nominated regions competing for the prestigious title ''Europe's most beautiful touristic region''.

• Lo mejor de la gastronomia (The best in gastronomy), eno-gastronomic fair in Alicante (Spain): presentation of Istria

  Under the patronage of the Embassy of Croatia in Spain, after the invitation of the non governmental association Casa Mediterráneo, active in the promotion of the Mediterranean tradition and culture and one of the organizers of this specialized eno-gastronomic fair, Istria had the honour to be the partner region of the event which took place on last November 6^th to 9^th in the beautiful town of Alicante, capital town of the homonymous south-eastern Spanish region.

• Merano Wein Festival: presentation of the istrian vintners included in the guide Vinibuoni d'Italia

  The Merano Wine Festival is one of the most important events of this type in this part of Europe. And it is a great opportunity for the best Italian and foreign vintners, as well as food producers, to present their products under the spotlights of this prestigious fair, creating a perfect qualitative culinary blend. A particular reason to be delighted for is the fact that, within the fair there was the presentation of the guide Vinibuoni d'Italia, in which for the first time this year has presented our region by dedicating it as much as the front cover page of its wine guide.

• Lonely Planet chooses Istria among the world's top 10 regions to visit in 2011

  Best in Travel 2011, a special edition of the prestigious guidebook Lonely Planet, elected Istria at the second place amongst the world's most interesting regions to visit.

  Lonely Planet is the preferred guidebook trusted by numberous tourists worldwide on their travels. The philosophy saying 'All you've got to do is decide to go and the hardest part is over. So go!', published in the first number of the guidebook by Tony and Maureen Wheeler, the co-founders of Lonely Planet, is still driving this worldwide known brand.

• Istrian restaurants in the prestigious guide L'espresso - I ristoranti d'Italia 2011

  As a result od longlasting negotiations and collaboration with the RCS MediaGroup, 10 amongst the best Istrian restaurants have been included into the prestigious Italian guide Le guide L'espresso - I ristoranti d'Italia 2011 published in 110.000 copies. The promotion of the new guide, attended by Denis Ivošević, the director of the Tourism board of Istria, will take place in Florence (Italy) within the historical Marketplace of St. Lawrence (Mercato di San Lorenzo) on october the 7th 2010.

• Promotion of Istrian chefs and restaurants into the international association Jeunes Restaurateurs d'Europe

  30.04.2010.

  On 10 May 2010 starting at 13.00 in the restaurant of the San Rocco Hotel in Brtonigla a promotion ceremony is going to be held on the occasion of including four Istrian chefs and restaurants into this prestigious international association gathering the best young chefs from all over Europe. The honour of representing Istria in this association belongs to Teo Frenetich from the San Rocco restaurant from Brtonigla, Matteo Beletic from the Damir&Ornella restaurant and  Marin Rendić from the Pepenero restaurant (both from Novigrad) and Danijel Đekić from the Monte restaurant (Rovinj). The JRE representatives will award them with special personalized aprons with their names as well as official labels for their restaurants.

• Inclusion of Istrian winemakers into the prestigious guide ''Vinibuoni d'Italia 2011'' of the Italian Touring Club - TCI

  As it has already been announced, during March and April final negotiations took place about the inclusion of 15 best Istrian winemakers into the prestigious guide of the Italian Touring Club - TCI, ''Vinibuoni d'Italia 2011'', published in 35 thousand copies. All the included Istrian winemakers will be reviewed and evaluated by the eminent Italian experts in the field of enology. The said publication deals with the Italian enologic tradition, especially the autochthonous wines of certain regions.

• Participation of Istrian olive growers at the MEDOLIVA fair in Arezzo (Italy)

  21.04.2010.

  In the period between 14 - 17 May 2010 in the Italian town of Arezzo, Tuscany, the second edition of the international fair of extra virgin olive oils will be held. Along with more than 200 selected oils from 19 countries of the Mediterranean area, this year the fair will present 23 best olive oil producers from Istria selected by Marco Oreggia, one of the most renowned olive oil experts, publisher and editor of the most significant world extra virgin olive oil guide - Flos Olei (the former L'extravergine - www.marco-oreggia.com).

• Inclusion of Istrian restaurants into the prestigious Italian gourmet guide -L'espresso

  As it has already been announced, during March and April final negotiations took place on the inclusion of 10 best Istrian restaurants into the prestigious Italian gourmet guide - L'espresso (2011 edition) published in 110 copies. All the included Istrian restaurants will be reviewed and evaluated by the eminent Italian enogastronomic experts in order for them to be able to stand side by side with 3.000 exquisite restaurants from all the 20 region from the Apennine peninsula that will be included into the new edition of this guide.

• Istria Valamar Terra Magica 2010 – Race announcement

  08.04.2010.

  On its fifth anniversary, the renowned international biking race will take place from 7th to 9th May. Differently form last years, when it was a daily race, this edition will last over three days, passing through the areas of the tourism offices of Poreča and Tar-Vabriga, as well as through Lanterna and Tinjan. Such growth of the event, as in quantitative as in qualitative terms was possible thanks to the support of our long lasting partner – Valamar co, but also of the inclusion of a new strategic partner – the Agrolaguna co.

• THE THIRD PRESS BLOGGING TRIP IN ISTRIA, 12-16 April 2010

  During March Istria Tourist Board published the second edition of the diving catalogue Istra Diving – Adventure in Blue Istria.

• A series of articles about Istria published in the Slovenian daily newspaper Primorske novice

  Continues the already good collaboration of the Istrian County Department of tourism with the Slovenian daily newspaper Primorske novice, widely read by our northern neighbours, which are very close to Istria and most of them regular visitors of our region.

• New Vacation Planner

  During January 2010 an up-to-date brochure Vacation Planner was printed in Croatian, English German and Italian language, and due to the great demand it has additionally been translated to Slovenian and Russian. This edition was published in 68.000 copies.  

• New Istrien Magazin

  At the beginning of 2010, promotional publication Istrien Magazin was printed in German language. It had been realized through the collaboration of the Istrian County Tourist Board and the Austrian PR agency.

• Istrian olive oil producers at the 4th International Olive Oil Exhibition OLIO CAPITALE in Trieste (Italy)

  The 4th edition of Olio Capitale (www.oliocapitale.it , the Exhibition of typical and quality extra-virgin olive oils, with a rich program of side events, shall take place from 5th to 8th March 2010 in Trieste (Italy).

• Istrian olive oil producers at the 4th International Olive Oil Competition ''ARMONIA'' competing for the ''ALMA'' Trophy

• The new Domus Bonus catalogue

  At the beginning of February Istria Tourist Board published a new, second edition of the catalogue on private accommodation labeled Domus Bonus - Istria Quality Apartments, the guarantee for quality accommodation.

• Study trip of danish tourism experts in Istria

  17.02.2010.

  From March 7th until 9th 2010 Istria will host a group of 35 Danish experts in strategic regional touristic planning and management in tourism. The participants of this trip shall stay at the newly opened Kempinski Hotel Adriatic 5* in Crveni vrh, Savudrija, where they'll attend to thematic presentations and round tables about Croatian and Istrian tourism development strategies, and the activities related to branding, marketing and promotion of Istria as touristic destination.

• Presentation of the istrian tourism at the BIT fair in Milan

  Within the international tourism fair BIT, taking place every year in Milan, besides the yet traditional presentation at the expositional stand of the Croatian National Tourism board, the istrian tourism will additionally present itself on February 20th(Saturday) at 10 o'clock in the pavilion number 4, stand R46 T45

• Presentation of Istrian tourism at the Gala Dinner of Rotary Club Veneto

  Within a successful long-term collaboration with Papageno, a magazine specialized for eno-gastronomy, active in the whole Aple-Adria area, which apart from publishing deals with organization of thematic events, is holding a thematic evening for around 50 members of ROTARY CLUB VENETO on 22 February 2010 in the Cà del Galletto hotel in Treviso.

• Istrian extra virgin olive oil video release

  15.02.2010.

  After six months of work on the thematic video about Istrian extra virgin olive oils, that includes field-based shooting, cutting, editing, multilingual synchronization, production and adjustment for web release, we've finally got the first eight videos which are soon to be published in the multimedia chapter of our specialized web portal dedicated to the Istrian eno-gastronomy.

• Arrangements about the inclusion of Istrian restaurants into the Italian gourmet guide L'espresso

  Within one of the most famous gourmet congresses named IDENTITÀ GOLOSE which has just been held in Milan, the first preliminary arrangements about the inclusion of the best Istrian restaurants into the Italian L'espresso guide took place. Denis Ivošević, Head of the Istrian County Administrative Department for Tourism and Enzo Vizzari, editor-in-chief of the L'espresso guide editorial board, lead the discussions.

• Istrian restaurants included into the official site of Jeunes Restaurateurs d'Europe

  Beginning with 2010 the Istrian restaurants which  were included into prestigious association Jeunes Restaurateurs d'Europe last year, have now been officially promoted as the members of the large family of young European chefs at their official web site www.jre.eu/hr.

• Parenzana II Project launched

  At the end of 2009 the first phase of the realization of Parenzana I project took place, within INTERREG III A of the Slovenia-Hungary-Croatia Neighbourhood Programme within the crossborder cooperation officially named Parenzana - the Route of Health and Friendship

  To the already rich photo gallery of enogastronomic and cycling tourism of Istria published last year at the specialized Istrian bike and gourmet portals, the Istrian County Administrative Department for Tourism has recently added numerous new photos.

• Presenting Istria at MIB School of Management in Trieste (Italy)

  On 11th February at International Master in Tourism & Leisure of MIB School of Management, a presentation of Istrian tourism will be held on the topic of destination management.

• Negotiations with Touring Club Italiano about including Istria into their guides
