From 29 May until 1 June Rovinj is hosting the shooting crew of an extremely popular documentary TV series Borghi Marini shown on the Italian Sky TV that decided to dedicate one of its episodes to Rovinj, the pearl of the North Mediterranean.

Borghi Marini is a 22-minute TV documentary which presents the most significant Italian (and not only Italian) coastal towns, namely, their cultural and historical heritage aiming at the valorization of the town itself as well as the persons responsible for its preservation.

The principal aim of the producers of this programme is to present the beauties of the Mediterranean coastal towns, but also to motivate the viewers - all of them potential travellers - to choose the destination of their next trip/holiday.

Each episode brings an especially interesting story, a legend or an event of cultural and historical significance, by interviewing persons who are in some way related to the town in question.

Considering the huge success of the first 20-episode edition of the Borghi Marini series, the Marco Polo Sky TV channel decided to shoot 20 more. Each episode includes 5 interviews with the persons from the relevant town, who talk about a historical event which was significant for their town, about their profession, their relationship toward the town, cultural, historical and natural beauties as well as about some special activities.

The aim of the 3-4 day shooting is to get as many as possible quality shots of the area, of the coast as well as the sea. Most of the interviews will take place in the open thus trying to grasp characteristic scenes from these towns in the background of the narrator.

Each episode will be shown three times a day (at 14.00, 22.00 and 04.00), along with numerous reruns during 2009 and 2010. If you wish to see some of the previous episodes of Borghi Marini, you can do this by switching to channel 414 - Marcopolo Sky TV (with a special subscription), or by visiting the www.gialeproduzioni.it web pages, where in the chapter Portfolio under the title ‘’Documentari e Reportage’’ you can choose the documentary you want to see.
