Photo exhibition

Solo exhibition of photographs "The Story of Istrian Doorknobs", by Robert Hrelja, which will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 6:00 PM, in the "Batana" gallery (PAG Batana) Rovinj, Trg brodogradilišta 2.

Robert Hrelja was born in Australia, lives and works in Pula. A bricklayer by profession, he is also an athlete and photographer. He has been involved in photography since high school as part of the photo section. He is a long-standing member of the CVU Batana Rovinj and the Format Pula Association. Since 2013, he has exhibited in Grimaldi, Sv. Lovreč, Žminj, Ližnjan, Rovinj, Muntić, Pula, Vodnjan... He has won several awards and commendations at photo competitions. He has had solo exhibitions of photographs in: Gallery "Kapelan" in Muntić, Gallery "El Magazein" in Vodnjan, Gallery SKUC Pula (Serbian Cultural Center, Pula) and Photo Art Gallery "Batana" in Rovinj. Over the years, he has found and photographed more than 200 different doorknob shapes, some of which are rare and several centuries older. The oldest doorknob he found is in Vodnjan from 1786. The story of Istrian doorknobs is a continuation of Robert's research with his camera throughout Istria, looking for unique, old, handmade and even forged doorknobs, to record them, snatch them from oblivion and return them to us through photography, for us to see as a document of the past.
