Olive oil producers

Cernaz

Grožnjan-Grisignana

Details:

The farm Cernaz is situated in Grožnjan, a small and charming village in the Istrian inland. The farm is run by Rino Černac, who founded it in 1997. There are 2 hectares of specialized olive grove with 500 trees of typical regional varieties, which produced 50 quintals of olives in the last harvest, equal to a yield of almost 7 hectolitres of extra virgin olive oil. We recommend the farm selection, the Monocultivar Extra Virgin Cernaz - Istarska Bjelica, which is a light limpid golden yellow colour. Its aroma is fine and delicate, endowed with fragrant hints of mint and rosemary, together with vegetal notes of freshly mown grass and lettuce. Its taste is mellow and harmonic, characterized by a flavour of artichoke, chicory and a note of black pepper. Bitterness is present and pungency is complimentary, with a sweet almond finish. It would be ideal on artichoke appetizers, salmon carpaccio, perch salads, baked potatoes, bean purée, pasta with tomato sauce, stewed shellfish, pan-seared turbot, roast rabbit, grilled poultry, goat cheese.

Number of trees: 400
