Fakin

Motovun-Montona

Motovun is a historic Istrian town whose territory consists of the settlements of Kaldir, Sveti Bartol and Brkač. The majority of Motovun vineyards are planted in the vicinity of Brkač, and the family winery Fakin is located in the small hamlet of Bataji. Elio Fakin has always been engaged in viticulture and he has passed his love on to his son Marko, who appeared on the Istrian wine scene in 2010. From then until now, the Fakin winery has grown into a serious winery with a handful of awards won on both the domestic and foreign markets. More than thirty hectares of vineyards are planted on the deep white soil, typical of the Brkač area. They grow autochthonous grape varieties, Istrian malvasia, teran and muscat. Fakin wines are present on the market with a dozen labels, and among the "it" wines are Istrian malvasia La prima and teran Il primo, which also appear on the wine lists of many Michelin starred restaurants. Marko is greatly supported by his wife Bety, who takes care of the family restaurant, located in the old part of Motovun.
