Olive oil producers




For the first time in this Guide with a really good quality product: this is the farm Tanger in Medulin, run by Silvano Tanger, who founded it about six years ago. The estate consists of 2 hectares of specialized olive surface with 550 trees. In the last harvest 45 quintals of olives were produced, equal to a yield of 6 hectolitres of extra virgin olive oil. Our panel recommends the farm selection, the Extra Virgin Tanger, which is a beautiful intense limpid golden yellow colour. Its aroma is definite and ample, rich in fruity hints of unripe tomato and white apple, together with intense fragrant notes of basil, rosemary and mint. Its taste is complex and strong, endowed with a distinct vegetal flavour of artichoke, wild thistle, celery and a definite sweet almond finish. Bitterness is powerful and pungency is distinct and harmonic. It would be ideal on tuna appetizers, grilled porcini mushrooms, spinach salads, barbecued radicchio, minestrone with vegetables, meat cous cous, baked blue fish, pan-seared red meat or game, medium mature cheese.
