- The Fantazija Quarry Natural Monument, better known as Cava di Monfiorenzo, is the only geological natural monument in the Istrian County. The rocks of the Quarry were sawn with a flat cut, with a polished effect, which brings out the rare rhythmic alternation of Early Diagene and Late Diagene dolomites. The rhythmic alteration of dolomite makes the rocks aesthetically attractive, although the scientific and educational values are much greater. Visible layers of genetically different dolomites with preserved structural-textural features serve for the scientific explanation of the process of the formation of such and similar rocks in the world and the interpretation of the conditions and processes that took place in the paleolith throughout the geological past.
