Explore Istria with the VIA ISTRA smart card

The VIA ISTRA smart card is a modern digital tourist product with a number of benefits for Istria enthusiasts. It comes in several versions, so one-day, three-day and seven-day cards are available, which enable visitors to the Istrian peninsula, as well as its inhabitants, to use public transport and visit cultural and historical locations at more convenient prices.

Tourist cards can be purchased online through the web platform. The daily card primarily covers the Pula area, while the three-day and weekly cards include the wider Istrian area.

All three packages offer unlimited travel by Croatian Railways (HŽ) train on the Pula - Buzet route and free travel on all Pulapromet bus lines in Pula and the surrounding area. In addition to transportation, users can visit a number of attractions included in the package price during the validity period of the card, which begins with the first use of the service.

With the daily card, visitors can see the sights in Pula: the Arena, the Temple of Augustus, the Zerostrasse underground tunnels, the Kaštel and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Istria.

With a three-day card visitors can go on a tour of Istria: to the Morosini - Grimani Castle in Svetvinčenat, the Visitor Centre in Barban, the Ethnographic Museum of Istria, the Pazin Town Museum in Pazin and the Public Museum in Labin. The three-day card includes the Pula Airport shuttle bus for the transfer of guests arriving by plane and the public bicycle system in Medulin, Fažana, Umag and Pazin.

The weekly card covers an even wider area and additionally includes a tour of the Batana Ecomuseum in Rovinj, the Walls and Five Towers Gallery in Motovun and the Lapidarium Museum in Novigrad.

The introduction of the VIA ISTRA card encourages the use of public transport, as well as the mobility of passengers and the combination of various types of transport, that is multimodality, which should also contribute to the relief of car traffic.

VIA ISTRA is a pilot project created in cooperation with a number of stakeholders at the level of the Region of Istria with the aim of providing added value in content for all those visiting and who love the Region of Istria, with a focus on digital sales channels, a multilingual online store and two versions of the mobile application. One is intended for customers, while the other for service providers, involved in the initiative, who can check and cancel users' QR codes.
