Description
The Geržinić family winery is nestled in the small village of Ohnići, at the heart of the renowned wine-growing region between Kaštelir and Vižinada. Viticulture and winemaking have been an integral part of local life for centuries, and the Geržinić family has nurtured both its vineyards and its passion for wine across generations.
A new chapter in the family's story began in 2005, when Marko Geržinić, after completing his studies in viticulture and oenology in Poreč, founded the winery with the support of his family.
By combining professional expertise with family tradition and an unwavering commitment to quality, the Geržinić family has created a distinctive Istrian wine story. Today, they cultivate 10 hectares of vineyards and produce around a dozen wine labels, all instantly recognisable by the rooster that adorns each bottle. The winery's portfolio is centred on indigenous Istrian grape varieties, particularly Malvazija istarska and Teran, while also producing outstanding wines from international varieties such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Yellow Muscat, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.
Geržinić wines have earned numerous Croatian and international accolades. Three labels stand out in particular: the fresh and expressive young Malvazija istarska, the robust barrel-aged Teran, and the elegant, easy-drinking Rosé made from Teran, which has consistently ranked among Croatia's finest rosé wines.
