Rules of conduct and legal regulations  

Rules of conduct If there are no buoys at the snorkeling location, do not go more than 100 m from the shore. Don't go snorkeling alone, it is safer and more interesting in the company of others. Don’t take anything from the sea because the Republic of Croatia protects and loves its sea.  

Legal regulations in the Republic of Croatia

In the Republic of Croatia, there are a number of laws on the protection and preservation of nature that bind us all.  

One of the fundamental principles is that everyone must behave in such a way as to contribute to the preservation of biodiversity, landscape diversity and geodiversity, and to the preservation of the generally beneficial role of nature. In the use of natural resources, including the Adriatic Sea, it is mandatory to apply the principle of sustainable use. Scientific research has shown that informing and educating all generations is the most effective long-term way of achieving changes in the future.  

There are protected and strictly protected marine species in the Republic of Croatia with accompanying strict regulations and penalties. Protected shellfish, snails and fish are prohibited from being taken out of the sea either dead or alive, as this is considered grounds for criminal charges for violations of the Marine Fisheries Act and the Ordinance on declaring wild taxa protected and strictly protected.
