Istria at Eat Berlin

Eat Berlin is one of the most famous European gourmet festivals and will host Istria for the first time this year offering the region the opportunity to present its extraordinary gourmet story. This exceptional opportunity to promote the destination through the scents and flavours of its cuisine could not have been done without its long-standing PR partner, Art RedaktionsTeam from Austria.

The road to taking part in Eat Berlin was not easy at all. Along with extensive arrangements and preparations, two research and inspection visits were made during which the festival’s director, Bernhard Moser, and the editor of the German newspaper Der Tagesspiegel, Kai Röger, got all the confirmation needed to decide that Istrian delicacies deserved a special space at this prestigious festival.

Eat Berlin began on Friday, 23rd February, and Istria’s presentation will take place on Saturday, 3rd March, at the Rio Grande restaurant, located right next to the Spree River. The Rio Grande was declared restaurant of the year by Der Feinschmecker, whilst for three consecutive years, from 2016 to 2018, it was included in the Falstaff guide.

The colours of Istrian gourmet will be presented by chef Denis Zembo along with extra virgin olive oils Chiavalon and a selection of Kozlović an Clai wines and, of course, the inevitable Istrian truffle, freshly brought out of the soil by the Karlić family. The five-course dinner will be attended by 70 eminent guests, journalists and opinion leaders.

The presentation of Istria has also been announced in the festival's magazine, and an additional promotion will also take place the following day, as part of Eat Berlin's gala dinner at the Hilton Waldorf Astoria on Sunday, 4th March. During the dinner, with around 180 guests expected, an “Istrian course” will also be served and at the same time Istria will have a special presentation stand where the destination and its gourmet offer will be presented in more detail.
