The British low-budget air carrier Jet2.com will be introducing a new direct line from Manchester to Pula from May of the next year, connecting the two cities once a week, on Saturdays, from 19th May through 6th October 2012.

The new airline will enable travellers from the British city of Manchester and its surroundings to go on a comfortable trip to Pula, the largest Istrian town, thus entering the rich world of sun and the blue Adriatic, of the abundant historical sites and local cuisine, of interesting festivals, mysterious legends and plentiful opportunities for exploration.

Also in May 2012, the German national carrier Lufthansa will introduce its first regular line in history to Pula airport, connecting it with the Bavarian metropolis Munich once a week. Lufthansa will fly between Pula and Munich every Saturday, from 5th May to 13th October 2012.

The Istria Tourist Board is more than satisfied with Jet2.com's and Lufthansa's choice of Pula as their partner destination. It is a great opportunity for Istria, bringing new responsibilities and opening new horizons for the peninsula. As the most visited tourist region in Croatia, Istria takes pride in continual development of new experiences for travellers, and is keen to promote itself as a unique European destination of lifestyle and gourmet tourism.

A dominant trend over the past few years has been that of quality improvement – more and more premium hotels have appeared, along with significant number of wellness centres, while numerous campsites have won prestigious awards. All this, paired with an increasing attention that the Pula airport has received in recent years, makes Istria an even better choice for travellers from the large European cities.

It is also worth mentioning that in 2012 the popular Ryanair flights from London airport Stansted to Pula will start on 27th March. The leading European low-cost carrier Ryanair will continue with its flights to Frankfurt, Germany and Brussels, Belgium, connecting these cities with Pula airport as it did before. Moreover, Ryanair will introduce a new air-line to Pula airport in 2012 – from the Norwegian capital Oslo, which is great news for air travellers.

Meanwhile, Istria Tourist Board officials are negotiating with other European air carriers, with an aim of connecting Pula with such lively and interesting metropolises as Paris, Edinburgh, Hannover, Belgrade, Warsaw, Krakow and others.
