International Hotel Awards has pronounced Maistra’s Hotel Lone in Rovinj the best five-star congress hotel in Europe in 2012. The Lone hotel, noted for its original architecture, stylish design, freshness and exceptional quality, with this award has added another accolade to its collection.

The International Hotel Awards rating program is conducted for the purpose of identifying, indicating and rewarding excellence in the global tourism industry. It derives from International Property Awards (1994), a rewarding system with a longstanding tradition, believed to be the most prominent of such systems in the residential and commercial sectors. The award-receiving regions are the Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe, Africa, Arabia and United Kingdom.

The excellence of hotels registered for the program is rated by a team of experiences experts in all areas of the hotel business. In addition to the categories providing for all hotel types and sizes, awards are presented for the best architectural concept, interior design, marketing and website. The rating criteria included, but were not limited to technical equipment, service quality and adjustment of other hotel facilities to this hotel segment.

Over the past two years, Maistra invested substantial funds in development of facilities and offerings directly or indirectly relating to congress tourism. The key turning point for both Maistra’s and entire destination’s MICE offering occurred last year when Hotel Lone was opened (an investment worth approximately HRK 350 million), representing the core of Maistra’s MICE offer with its facilities. The central hall receives 650 persons and can be divided into three smaller areas, while the rest of the halls within the hotel are suitable for meetings and congresses for groups of 15-150 participants. The hotel also offers a series of complementary facilities and services including a restaurant, a night club, a wellness center, etc. The opening of the hotel completed the offer of the Cap Aureo congress center (the Lone, Monte Mulini, Eden and Park hotels), presently including 20 halls and accommodation for approximately 2,000 participants.
