This topic was chosen because according to some researches water is one of the most endangered resources of the third millenium, while, on the other hand, the area of Istria is especially sensitive regarding the protection of drinking water, not just because of the karst terrain, but also due to the fact that in case a serious pollution happens anywhere in Istria it will automatically pollute the drinking water in the whole area. Since in Istria there is a large number of springs, brooks, ponds in very attractive areas, that are very specific bio-systems, this activity is one of the ways of additionally pointing out the need to protect this area.
