Ravalico

Brtonigla-Verteneglio

The Ravalico family inherited its tradition of winemaking and viticulture in 1903, when Giovanni Ravalico started a small vineyard in Nova Vas, where he came from in Piran, and where his family had been engaged in fishing for years. The modern history of the winery begins in 1986, when, among the first private wineries, they started bottling wine. Many wine enthusiasts still remember their pinot gris, chardonnay and Istrian malvasia from that time, which represented a kind of avant-garde. The F.& F. Ravalico winery is one of the largest privately-owned wineries in the Croatian part of Istria with over 40 hectares of vineyards. In addition to wine, they are also known for their distillates and good extra virgin olive oil. Today, they are present on the market with about fifteen wine labels – ranging from sparkling and still wines to aged wines. The flagship of the winery are the wines from a special series labelled 1903. These were created by the heir to the empire, Francesco Ravalico, a young trained oenologist. The Cuvée noir 1903 is a full-blood Bordeaux blend of merlot and cabernet sauvignon, and the aged Istrian malvasia 1903 has already won a number of awards both at home and on the international scene.
