For centuries the blue depths of the sea have been extremely generous to the inhabitants of Ližnjan, many of whom spent their lifetimes working as fishermen. The artifice of fishing and the skill of preparing fish food has been successfully preserved in the traditional feast of Ližnjan that brings plenty of excitement and entertainment in a single day. Sailing regatta "Ližnjanka ", Fishermen's night, and Brodetto cup Ližnjan will be held in July in the bay of Kuje to the joy of all who looked forward to its return.

The favorite local feast of southern Istria is back in an even reacher edition, with a program that will provide visitors with an opportunity to meet and experience the fishing heritage of Ližnjan through sports, entertainment, gastronomy, and music and to spend an unforgettable night in the bay of Kuje, where boats and ships used to anchor as early as in the prehistoric times.

Brodetto Cup Ližnjan

Fishermen's night is unthinkable without fish specialties, and in Ližnjan brodetto (fish stew) holds the title of the most important specialty; the cup is dedicated to competition between teams to make the most delicious brodetto! Contestants "armed "with a pot, kitchen accessories, and secret ingredients and divided into 16 registered teams will embark on a venture where they will transform 12,5 kg of fresh fish (ray, cadel, monkfish, cuttlefish, comber) into a rhapsody of taste and scents. And, of course, taking pleasure in delicious fish bites that will be distributed free of charge to visitors.
