The Poreč Annale is the oldest Croatian group exhibition of contemporary visual art, held continuously since 1961. It presents the state of contemporary visual art on both the national and international scene and is thematic in character, with a professional selector appointed anew each year. Some of the Annale’s past themes include Art and the City, Tendencies in Contemporary Landscape, Towards the Minimal, and Mystification. Among the exhibited artists are Andy Warhol, Joseph Beuys, Aleksandar Srnec, Ivan Picelj, Dušan Džamonja, Vanessa Beecroft, Dalibor Martinis, and others.

Supported by a rich body of promotional and printed materials and strong media presence, the Annale today holds the status of an established annual exhibition of contemporary art.

The exhibition takes place during the summer months, at the peak of the tourist season. One of the key aims of the Annale is to introduce professionals, the media, and the wider public to contemporary art, which constantly evolves and experiments with new cores, themes, and forms. On several occasions, the exhibition has toured abroad, successfully promoting the cultural offer of the City of Poreč and Croatia, while its exhibition concepts have offered a clear and critical insight into current trends and the essence of contemporary art.
