About the event:
Traditional Religious and Community Celebration
On 21 November 2026, Poreč will traditionally celebrate the Feast of Saint Maurus, the patron saint of the city of Poreč and the Diocese of Poreč. Deeply rooted in the city's history and traditions, this annual celebration brings together residents and visitors to honour the city's patron saint.
The Feast of Saint Maurus traditionally combines religious, cultural, entertainment and gastronomic events, offering a rich and varied programme for all generations. The central part of the celebration includes a solemn Holy Mass at the Euphrasian Basilica, followed by a procession carrying the relics of Saint Maurus through the streets of Poreč's historic old town. Alongside the religious celebrations, the city's squares and streets will host a traditional festivity featuring live music, social gatherings and complimentary traditional meals served at Freedom Square (Trg slobode) and along the Poreč waterfront. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the festive atmosphere, local customs and culinary traditions, while special creative workshops for children will provide entertainment for the youngest visitors. The celebrations will continue in the evening with the Saint Maurus Awards ceremony, recognising individuals for their outstanding achievements and contributions to the local community. The Feast of Saint Maurus is an opportunity to preserve Poreč's rich cultural and spiritual heritage while bringing people together in a festive atmosphere that connects tradition, history and contemporary city life. This year's diverse programme will once again invite residents and visitors to celebrate the city's patron saint together.
The detailed programme for the 2026 celebration, including event times and locations, will be announced at a later date.
