Pula Marathon
About the event:
Race Through an Ancient City
Set against Pula's enchanting autumn backdrop, with its mild Mediterranean climate, the scent of the sea and beautifully illuminated streets, the Pula Marathon is a unique sporting event that welcomes runners of all abilities.
Offering three race distances - 21 km, 10 km and 5.99 km - the event invites participants to explore the city's rich heritage and vibrant urban landscape. All races start in front of the iconic Pula Arena in the early evening and set off one after another, with the 21 km half marathon opening the programme.
The evening races coincide with the Visualia Festival, allowing runners to experience spectacular light installations along the course before continuing the celebration by exploring the festival's attractions with family and friends.
The Pulska X-ica, a 10 km race, leads participants through a dynamic mix of city streets and waterfront promenades. Starting in front of the Arena, the course winds through Pula's historic centre, seamlessly connecting ancient landmarks with the city's contemporary urban landscape. Its varied route offers an exciting challenge for runners of every level.
For those who prefer a shorter distance, the 5.99 km race is the perfect choice. Ideal for both recreational runners and those chasing a faster time, it follows lively city streets and the seafront before finishing in the unforgettable setting of the ancient amphitheatre, where every stride across the finish line echoes through history.
A dedicated Nordic walking category offers participants the chance to discover the beauty of Pula at a more relaxed pace while still enjoying the energy and atmosphere of this unique sporting event.
The Pula Marathon is designed for all generations - including the youngest participants. Children's races take place on the first day of the event in front of the Arena during the early evening. Race distances range from 150 to 250 metres, with separate races for boys and girls in the following age categories:
3-4 years | 5-6 years | Primary School – Grades 1–2| Primary School – Grades 3–4| Primary School – Grades 5–6
Whichever race you choose, you'll experience an unforgettable blend of sport, culture and history, culminating in a spectacular finish at one of the world's most impressive ancient monuments - the magnificent Pula Arena.
