15th Rovinj Photography Exhibition

About the event:

Rovinj and the Rovinj region as the given theme—perhaps too simple for some, yet in reality complex and multifaceted—are at the heart of the 15th Rovinj Photography Exhibition.
With a noticeable improvement in quality, the exhibition progresses year after year toward its primary goal: encouraging creative work and continuous learning about photographic techniques, composition, and storytelling—whether in photojournalism, architecture, or capturing a detail of the city of Rovinj.

The first prize was awarded to Filip Babajko for the photograph “Behind,” where the author plays with complex composition and moment.
The second prize went to Ermano Bančić for the photograph “Through the City Streets,” taken with a digital camera modified for infrared spectrum photography. In this image, people almost become ghosts; the scene is dreamlike and challenges the viewer with its “reality” that the human eye cannot perceive.
The third prize was awarded to Sanja Mrša Vukman for the photograph “Fiamita,” where the author plays with a piece of glass and its transparency, through which an old photograph of Rovinj can be seen—transforming the glass into a fragment of captured past, like a broken brooch holding an inner secret.
In addition to the three main awards, 10 more authors received special mentions.
Aldo Pokrajac with a series of portraits of old ship caulkers and carpenters; Arijana Dobrila Barbaro with “Life from Concrete”; Bianca Smoljan with “The Strength of the Sea”; Mladen Boljkovac with “Dvigrad”; Dragana Radetić with “Crab”; Drago Filić with “Rovinj from the Window”; Marinko Jelušić with “Batana in the Fog”; Matej Bunić with “Moon”; Sanja Kušar Precali with “Rovinj Sunsets”; and Vesna Licitar with “Before the Storm.”
