Dance Stories: May

The Mediterranean Dance Centre (MDC) is located in Svetvinčenat, in a building that once served as a community hall. Conceived as a space for work, exchange, and curiosity, it is open to both artists and the local community.

The centre was established in 2010 as an Art Centre, when the first major renovations began to transform the space into a venue for contemporary dance. Since 2013, it has carried its current name. Its early activities focused on artist residencies and educational programs, with a strong emphasis on supporting the development of original dance practices. The first official premiere - Staging a Play: Tartuffe - was held in 2016, marking the completion of the venue.

Today, MDC runs a year-round program of residencies, performances, and presentations of works in progress, positioning Svetvinčenat as a vibrant meeting point for contemporary dance.
