Rovinj Spring Jazz
Organized by the Public Open University of the City of Rovinj-Rovigno, the traditional Rovinj Spring Jazz will be held in the Multimedia Center in Rovinj from May 23 to 25. This festival enriches the cultural offer of the city with always valuable programs. Praiseworthy continuity that was achieved thanks to the enthusiastic attitude and professional implementation of the organizers. As every year, the audience will enjoy the performances of distinguished Croatian and foreign musicians with different styles of jazz.
The unique singer Tamara Obrovac will present her acclaimed project "Apoxyomenos Recomposed" with the Italian pianist Stefano Battaglia. It is a new, peculiar approach to the compositions she wrote for the ballet "Apoxiomen" of the Zagreb National Theater.
Guitarist Filip Pavić will perform music from his two albums: "Terra Incognita" and "Labyrinth Songs". With these releases, Pavić confirmed himself as a new creative force on the Croatian jazz scene - as a skilled instrumentalist, imaginative composer and ensemble leader trusted by musicians.
The international quartet of the versatile jazz musician Alex Sipiagin bases his performances on the rich experience that this distinguished trumpeter gained playing with jazz greats such as Dave Holland, Michael Brecker, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Chris Potter, Eric Clapton, Dr. John, Elvis Costello.
Entrance fee: €12 (free entry for people under 18).
With the support of the Rovinj partner THE HOUSE OF LOCAL PRODUCTS, great wines will be tasted free of charge with jazz notes this year, from the area of Vižinada Vina DEKLIĆ on 5/23 (Thursday), the young MEDEA winery from Vodnjan (Friday 5/24) and from the family Pereša-Vitasović wines TERABOTO (Saturday, 5/25).
