Concert of the Hungarian Radio Children’s Choir
The Hungarian Radio Children’s Choir, winner of the Bartók–Pásztory and Prima awards, has for many years been a respected and recognized children’s choir on both the Hungarian and international music scene.
The founders of the Hungarian Children’s Choir, Valéria Botka and László Csányi, led the choir between 1955 and 1985.
Since February 2019, Soma Dinyés has been leading the Children’s Choir, with Magdaléna Szűcs as assistant conductor and Katalin Körber as principal conductor. The choir members are trained by the conductors in four groups: the Bimbócskák Choir for children aged 6 to 8, the Palánták Choir for children aged 9 to 11, the Grand Choir for children aged 11 to 15, and the Youth Choir for ages 12 to 18.
The Hungarian Radio Children’s Choir, a member of the Hungarian Radio Art Ensembles, has collaborated with distinguished musicians such as Luciano Berio, Semyon Bychkov, Myung-Whun Chung, José Cura, Dennis Russell Davies, Peter Maxwell Davies, Péter Eötvös, Ádám Fischer, Iván Fischer, Philip Glass, The King’s Singers, Kenichiro Kobayashi, Zoltán Kocsis, Zoltán Peskó, Paul Sacher, András Schiff, György Solti, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Geoffrey Tate and Tamás Vásáry.
The choir regularly participates in Hungarian and European music festivals and events and has made numerous radio and television recordings both in Hungary and abroad. They have been invited to perform in almost all European countries, toured the United States and Japan, and have also visited China, South Korea and Taiwan.
