Lovrečeva Festival
A lively traditional festival held in Sveti Lovreč Labinski (Diminići), a small historic village on the eastern coast of Istria between Labin and Raša Bay, celebrates the parish feast day of Saint Lawrence.
On the feast day of Saint Lawrence (10 August), numerous events are held throughout Istria in honour of local patron saint. The celebration in this small village is particularly special, as it preserves local cultural heritage through the traditional Istrian folk dance „tanac poli kalanice“.
The name of the festival is linked to the local expression „kalanica“, which gives the event its distinctive identity among the people of the Labin area, while „tanac“ in the Istrian dialect means dance and joyful celebration.
