Ermano Bančić – Dialogue in Infrared
At the exhibition space of the Photo Art Gallery of the Centre for Visual Arts “Batana” in Rovinj, Trg brodogradilišta 2, a solo exhibition of photographs by Rovinj-based artist Ermano Bančić will open on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 9 p.m.
In the Rovinj Photo Gallery of the Centre for Visual Arts “Batana”, Ermano Bančić will present his new series of works, “Dialogue in Infrared”.
Thematically, the motifs in this project are dedicated to the city of Rovinj. They were captured using modified digital cameras equipped with an additional IR filter mounted on the lens.
The subjects, people and spaces presented by the artist in this series were photographed in strong daylight or in the evening, under low sunlight, when the emission of the infrared spectrum—an invisible form of light—is at its strongest and, in this case, most important. The result is unexpected, unreal and surreal, although the motifs themselves are familiar. In a similar infrared manner, some animals also perceive the world, beyond the colours of the visible spectrum familiar to us.
