The Portarol Palace is located in the historic core of Vodnjan. It was reconstructed after the years of decay. The Gothic structure, owned by the town of Vodnjan, covers about 200 m2 . Apart from holding various cultural and social events, it is also the seat of the Vodnjan Open University.
The reconstruction of this most probably Venetian palace started after the Croatian Conservation Institute had finished archaeological and restoration surveys on the ground floor clay terrain and the sounding of its walls and the facade. Remains of frescoes or other preserved cultural heritage have not been found.
