Present again in our Guide with a good result, this interesting farm, active since the mid-90s, is situated in the district of Vrsar. Its name, Kalčić, derives from the surname of its founder Zoran, who still runs it. It consists of a small estate of 3 hectares of specialized olive grove with 800 trees. In the last harvest 130 quintals of olives were produced, equal to a yield of almost 19 hectolitres of extra virgin olive oil.

The selection proposed to our panel is the very good Monocultivar Extra Virgin Kalčić - Istarska Bjelica, which is a beautiful intense limpid golden yellow colour with slight green hues. Its aroma is clean and rotund, endowed with ample vegetal hints of artichoke, chicory and lettuce, together with fragrant notes of basil, mint and rosemary. Its taste is fine and complex, with a spicy flavour of black pepper and an almond finish. Bitterness is distinct and pungency is definite.
