Description
Kaldir, a picturesque village near Motovun, has emerged in recent years as one of central Istria's most exciting wine destinations. It is here that the Valenta family has cultivated a passion for viticulture for generations. What began as a family hobby remained just that until 2017, when Valter Valenta and his sons, Stiven and Ivica, decided to take the next step and establish their own winery. The youngest member of the family, Sajmon, Ivica's son, later joined the team, making the winery a truly multi-generational enterprise now successfully run by three generations of the Valenta family.
Although still a young winery, Valenta Wines has quickly earned recognition among wine lovers. Today, the winery offers five wine labels that reflect the family's dedication and clear vision for the future. The Valenta family cultivates 15 hectares of vineyards on the characteristic white soils around Motovun and Pazin. Production centres on the indigenous varieties Malvasia istarska and Teran, both of which thrive in the Motovun area. The family also grows White Muscat and Sauvignon Blanc, a variety that has gained increasing prominence in Istrian vineyards in recent years.
The family's next major milestone is the construction of a boutique winery with a tasting room and complementary visitor facilities near Pazin. This exciting new development will complete the Valenta family's wine story while creating a welcoming destination where visitors can experience the character and diversity of Istrian wines.
