Legovina

Kaštelir-Labinci/Castelliere-S.Domenica

Back in 1937, in the then small hamlet of Mekiši near Kaštelir, Anton Legović planted a small vineyard, which was later taken over by his son Albino. Albino's son, Valter, took over the winery in the 1990s and elevated production to a high level. Valter, a skilled oenologist, followed the path of many in Kaštelir, dedicating years to Agrolaguna, Istria's largest winery. Today, the torch is gently passed to the fourth generation, with Valter's son Marko, also a trained oenologist, stepping into the legacy. The pinnacle of their family dedication is the newly opened modern cellar, complete with all the amenities. In the vicinity of Kaštelir, many families bear the surname Legović, and most are vintners. To honour their heritage and ensure clarity, the family christened their brand Legovina. The family cultivates 12 hectares of vineyards on deep red soil, at an altitude of 150 to 250 meters.

The vineyard is predominantly planted with Istrian Malvasia, followed by Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, White Muscat, Teran, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. They are present on the market with 12 wine labels divided into four categories: Perlata, Fresca, Matura, and Nobile. The stars of this winery are the blends Nobile Blanc and Nobile Noir.
