Veralda

Brtonigla-Verteneglio

The Veralda family winery is located in the most famous wine-growing location of Istria, the well-known hills of Buje, located between Buje and Brtonigla. Its name comes from its location (Veralda), instead of the family name Visintin, which is very common in Istria. The family tradition has been going on since 1938, and the recent history begins at the beginning of this century with the creation of the Veralda brand. Since the beginning, the winery has been run by brother Luciano and sister Ketty with the support of parents Nives and Narcizio. Today, Luciano's wife Marina and daughter Olga, a trained oenologist, are also involved in the business. The Veralda winery cultivates about thirty hectares of vineyards planted on deep white soil, and the selection is dominated by indigenous grape varieties Istrian malvasia, teran and refošk. They have won numerous prestigious awards for their wines, and so far, the most significant was won by the Istrian from the 2015 vintage at Decanter's 2016 evaluation, namely the platinum medal and the title of Best in Show in its category! In the last few years, Veralda has devoted itself to the production of sparkling wines, so today, with five labels, they are among the leading Croatian producers.
