In its 53rd edition (M arch–May 2026), The Cultured Traveller showcases Istria as the cover destination through an engaging feature by author Nicholas Chrisostomou. He portrays the region as a landscape shaped by Roman monuments, Venetian façades, and medieval hilltop towns, with an interior rich in truffle forests, olive groves, and vineyards.
The article leads readers from a morning in Motovun overlooking the Mirna Valley - accompanied by the search for Istrian truffles in the nearby Motovun Forest - to visits to some of Istria’s most remarkable cultural landmarks. These include the UNESCO-listed Euphrasian Basilica, the Pazin Castle and the Pazin Abyss, the frescoes of the Dance of Death in the small church of St. Mary at Škriljinah, and the monumental Roman heritage of Pula.
