At the end of 2009 the first phase of the realization of Parenzana I project took place, within INTERREG III A of the Slovenia-Hungary-Croatia Neighbourhood Programme within the crossborder cooperation officially named Parenzana - the Route of Health and Friendship. Now, at the beginning of 2010 the second and final phase of trimming Parenzana, the most attractive tourist route in Istria, is taking place. As it was the in the first phase, the holder of the project is the Istrian County Administrative Department for Tourism.

Thanks to the exceptionally well managed project Parenzana I which was last year rated as the best implemented EU project in Croatia, our Parenzana gets sequel. It was precisely due to this reputation that the County of Istria obtained the status of the leading partner in the project and the total budget for Parenzana II amounts to EUR 671.007,08.

The principal project activities to be implemented in 2010 are the following: clearing, cleaning, trimming and renovating the Vižinada - Poreč section in Croatia, and the Lama - Dekani section in Slovenia; improvement of cycling infrastructure; establishing the 'city bike' pilot project; drawing up documentation for future planning of infrastructural development of Parenzana; tourism workers training, services standardization and setting up info bike points; creating a multimedia museum on the topic of Parenzana; informing the public on the goals and achievements of the project; destination promotion and organizing promotional events.
