The accession of Croatia into the European Union will be marked in almost all Istrian towns and cities that are planning a rich program and the festivity is planned on the border passing of Plovanija.

The city of Buje will, in cooperation with Hotel Mulino, organize on June 31 and July 1 a series of manifestations of cultural, entertaining and sport characters where the Slovenian municipalities Piran and Portorož will also participate. The peak of the event will be the festive passing of the state border at exactly midnight on June 30 when the mayor of Piran will hand the flag of the European Union to the mayor of Buje.

Umag is planning the First Artistic Games which will be festively opened on Trg Slobode at 21:00. Before that, the blowing orchestra Naša Sloga from Babići and the vocal group Lugomare will perform. The celebration will also be enriched by the famous opera diva Martina Tomčić and Sandra Bagarić as well as with the United Mandolin Orchestar of the Italian Union and Josipa Lisac. After midnight DJ Denny K and DJ An7onio will perform.

On June 30 in Novigrad the Istrian Region will organize the Notte Europea manifestation that will through the Agrovino project present typical agricultural products of the Italian region Fruili Venezia Giulia.

Poreč will mark the accession into the EU from June 21 to 25 with the manifestation Croatia Gourmet Festival in order to present Croatian gastronomy and tourist treasures through a connection of gastronomy, winemaking, entertainment and culture. Furthermore, from June 15 to July 15 there is an exhibition set in the Istrian Parliament called “Artists of Europe greet Croatia as a new member of the EU”. The first day of July, the Municipality Kaštelir-Labinci is planning a gathering of the locals from the municipalities from the EU, basically weekenders and the locals from Kaštelir.

Rovinj on the last day of June is planning an evening party on its square that will be enriched by the arrival of two kayakers from Italy that will go along the Adriatic Sea on that day and they will leave from Cesenatico. The morning hours are foreseen for presenting the restored picture Otmica Europe (Kidnapping of Europe) in the city hall.

At the same time, the largest Istrian city Pula is planning a large EU party on Forum and Port'Aurea with the performance of numerous singers and bands. Planned also is a 3D mapping on the Forum which will countdown the accession into the EU, while on July 1 in the morning, on the Port'Aurea the kindergarten children will greet Europe with the program “Good morning EU”. The Film Festival will also give its contribution that will within the 60.Pula present to the public films from all EU country members.

The city of Vodnjan, a few days after the accession into the EU, on July 3 to 7, is planning the festival of urban art and Boombarstick music where there will be numerous artistic events held in the open including performances, installations, projections and the performances of numerous musicians. Numerous painting groups from Spain, Poland, Italy and France have announced their arrival.

Vrsar is organizing an aero meeting on the sport airport that will guest approximately 100 sport aircrafts, while on the boardwalk there will be folklore groups and a music program. Medulin is preparing something similar as well for the accession into the EU.

Evening programs will be organized in Buzet and Roč. In the Old Town of Buzet, at the Bastion, a theatre show Europica for children will take place followed by brass bands performances and Dancing with the Stars for all ages.  An evening concert will follow as well as on the summer stage in Roč.

On the eastern side of the Istrian peninsula the exhibition "28 Labin artists" will open on the 30th of June in the area of the City Gallery, the National Museum, the church of St. Stjepan and the Alvona Gallery. The same day, there will be a whole-day program called “28 Labin stars in the EU” with a video presentation of the best Labin has to offer to EU - cultural attractions, associations, sport, artists and projects. All of this is part of the Labin Art Republic, which begins on the 1st of July.
