Another excellent result for William and Anessa Negri, who show a growing interest in high quality. Their farm is situated in Brgod, in the municipality of Raša, along the eastern coast of the Istrian peninsula. Here they follow a noble family tradition and since 2001 have been running over 1 hectare of specialized olive grove with 460 trees. In the last oil harvest 150 quintals of olives were produced, equal to a yield of 15 hectolitres of oil. We recommend the excellent selection proposed by the farm, the Extra Virgin Negri, which is a beautiful intense limpid golden yellow colour with slight green hues. Its aroma is ample and rotund, rich in vegetal hints of artichoke and wild thistle, together with distinct notes of officinal herbs, especially mint and sage. Its taste is complex and strong, with a flavour of chicory, lettuce, black pepper and a distinct almond finish. Bitterness is powerful and pungency is definite. It would be ideal on bruschette with tomatoes, baked porcini mushrooms, spinach salads, barbecued radicchio, lentil purée, pasta with meat sauce, grilled tuna, grilled game birds or animals, hard mature cheese.
