Description
Nestled in the heart of central Istria, in the picturesque town of Sveti Petar u Šumi, lies the boutique family winery In Sylvis. Its name, meaning "in the forest" in Latin, pays tribute to the town itself, whose name translates as "Saint Peter in the Forest". This inspiring wine story began in 2014, when Lara and Marko Zgrablić, both graduates in viticulture and oenology, decided to fulfil their dream of establishing their own winery.
Before embarking on this venture, Marko honed his knowledge and expertise at several renowned Istrian wineries. Today, the couple cultivates four hectares of vineyards on the distinctive red Istrian soil surrounding Sveti Petar u Šumi, growing Malvazija istarska, Teran, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Their intimate "garage" winery is located in the heart of the village, while a contemporary tasting room, open year-round, lies just a few hundred metres away.
In the welcoming setting of the tasting room, guests can enjoy a selection of guided wine tastings accompanied by carefully chosen Istrian cured meat delicacies, a local speciality for which Sveti Petar u Šumi is widely renowned. For those seeking a more immersive experience, In Sylvis also offers exclusive wine and gastronomy experiences. With advance booking, guests can enjoy private wine dinners and bespoke culinary events, where exceptional wines are thoughtfully paired with the authentic flavours of Istria.
