Croatian Tourism Days 2025: Numerous Recognitions for Istria
At this traditional event, tourism awards were presented to Croatia’s best - and once again this year, Istria shone at the Croatian Tourism Days, reaffirming its excellence with a series of prestigious awards
Croatian Tourism Days, the country’s largest and most traditional gathering of tourism professionals and key stakeholders, took place this year in Dubrovnik on November 20 and 21. Organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism and Sport, the Croatian National Tourist Board, and the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, the event brought together industry leaders for expert lectures, workshops, presentations, and strategic meetings. Discussions focused on current tourism trends, while showcasing the potential for further development and for strengthening Croatia’s position on the international tourism market. The highlight of the event and its most eagerly awaited moment was the presentation of the Annual Croatian Tourism Awards.
During the festive ceremony, held before more than 1,300 participants, the best were announced. With their achievements, the award recipients from Istria once again demonstrated the region’s excellence across a wide range of tourism segments - from events, accommodation, and active tourism to outstanding individuals who, through their dedication, elevate the standards of Croatian tourism every single day.
A prestigious highlight of the evening, the Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Boris Žgomba, President of the Association of Travel Agencies at the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, co-owner, and long-time CEO of the Uniline Group. Expressing gratitude to his colleagues and family, he emphasized that this honour reflects shared effort and unwavering dedication. He also offered an inspiring message to young tourism professionals: to step forward with courage, remain authentic, and persevere through every challenge.
The award for Tourist Package of the Year went to the festival program Gates of Agartha @ Cave Romane, organized by Beat Travel and hosted in Vinkuran on the Medulin Riviera.
The title of Best Boutique Hotel of the Year, celebrating a seamless blend of Istrian tradition, nature, and luxury, was awarded to San Canzian Hotel & Residence from Buje.
In the Active Tourism category, the renowned Poreč cycling event Istria300 received top recognition. Organized by Bike Triangle, this project masterfully fuses an elite sporting challenge with an unforgettable journey through the breath-taking Istrian landscape.
The Croatian National Tourist Board also presented its traditional award, “Man - the Key to Success, Employee of the Year”, recognizing outstanding individuals across various categories, including travel agency employees, tour guides, front desk staff, police officers, firefighters, and more.
The award for Hotel Housekeeping Employee of the Year went to Ana Pilar, housekeeper at Maistra’s Valkanela Campsite in Funtana.
The title of Best Employee in Landscaping and Maintenance was awarded to Milan Kordić of Plava Laguna, team leader of the horticulture staff at Stella Maris Resort in Umag.
In the Front Desk Employee category, the honour went to Sanja Mohorović from Maistra in Rovinj.
For the first time this year, the “Your Host of the Year – LOCAL HOST” award was introduced, with the title of Best Host in the Region of Istria going to Klara Grahovac, owner of a holiday home in the village of Pusti, near Svetvinčenat.
