Falstaff Selects Top Gourmet Destinations in Istria for Its New Guide
Another Fantastic News for Istrian Gastronomy!
The prestigious Austrian magazine Falstaff has published its latest culinary guide - Internationalen Restaurantguide Kroatien - showcasing the highest-rated restaurants across the country. For the first time ever, this year’s edition also features traditional taverns, ranked in a dedicated category.
At the very top of the list is Restaurant Agli Amici Rovinj!
Falstaff praises the cuisine of chef Emanuele Scarello, calling it truly exceptional - as unforgettable as the stunning view of Rovinj’s historic town centre, the sea, and nearby islets. Every dish reflects outstanding ingredients, meticulous craftsmanship, and refined creativity. The wine pairings, too, are described as nothing short of world-class.
Among Croatia’s top culinary destinations, the latest Falstaff guide features an impressive selection of Istrian restaurants and taverns. Leading the way are Rovinj’s acclaimed Monte and the recently Michelin-starred Cap Aureo Signature Restaurant. The guide highlights Cap Aureo’s elegant setting, perched above Rovinj’s rooftops, as the perfect backdrop for modern cuisine deeply rooted in local ingredients and authentic Istrian flavours - expertly crafted by chef Jeffrey Vella with unparalleled finesse.
Restaurant Monte is celebrated as a hub of relentless creativity, where chef Danijel Đekić transforms carefully sourced ingredients from small local producers into dishes with a distinctive international flair.
In addition to these stars, several other exceptional venues earned top marks - scoring over 90 points - in this year’s gastronomic edition, including Cave Lab by Monte, Restaurant Mediterraneo - Hotel Monte Mulini, Damir & Ornella, San Rocco, Luciano - San Canzian and Meneghetti.
Among the top 10 taverns featured in Falstaff’s list are Batelina in Banjole and Morgan in Brtonigla, each earning an impressive 90 points. Hot on their heels, with 88 points each, are Buščina in Umag and Konoba Ćakula in Poreč.
