The last weekend of September once again offers an opportunity to experience Istria a little differently. On the occasion of World Tourism Day, on 26 and 27 September 2026, numerous attractions and experiences across the peninsula will open their doors to visitors with special offers, free programmes and discounts. For the eleventh consecutive year, the Department of Tourism of the Istrian Region is organising the celebration of World Tourism Day in Istria, creating an opportunity for local residents and visitors alike to discover both well-known and lesser-known stories, places and experiences that Istria has to offer. This year’s celebration is held under the motto “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism”, highlighting the changes that technology and artificial intelligence are bringing to modern tourism.

Two days for a new Istrian experience
On Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September, numerous tourism providers participating in the initiative will offer their experiences free of charge or with discounts of up to 50%. The idea is simple – to encourage visitors to step beyond their usual itineraries, discover new experiences and spend the weekend exploring Istria in different ways. All participating experiences are available on the website www.istra-sdt.com, where they can be explored through a list or an interactive map of Istria. Each experience includes a description, price or special offer, where applicable, as well as contact details for further information and reservations. Inquiries can be sent by e-mail, phone or directly to the selected service provider, while some providers also offer booking or purchasing options through their own web shops or other online services.
