Since 2019, Istrian extra virgin olive oil has been the proud holder of the European designation of origin! The name "Istra" extra virgin olive oil (PDO) is protected throughout the European Union by entry into the European Register of Protected Designations of Origin and Geographical Indications.

"Istra" extra virgin olive oil (PDO) contains at least 80% of the oil obtained from the mentioned olive varieties, which can be represented in the oil individually or in different proportions. The production area of the "Istra" extra virgin olive oil (PDO) is limited to the Croatian and Slovenian parts of the Istrian peninsula.
