New Culinary & Hotel Business World Trends at the 5th Istria Gourmet Festival in Rovinj

Istria Tourist Board, in collaboration with Croatian National Tourist Board as the main partner and Maistra Hospitality Group, organized the fifth edition of the Istria Gourmet Festival, with an exceptionally rich two-day program. The congress which main purpose is meeting new world trends and designing the prospects for the future development in the field of enogastronomy, took place on 28th and 29th October 2019 in the Design Hotel Lone in Rovinj.


Top stars, chefs awarded with Michelin stars present show cooking and give interesting educational lectures for the audience.    

The first day of the conference, featuring almost 24 Michelin stars is intended for the hospitality industry. The stunt of the first day of the conference is Mauro Uliassi - Italian chef awarded with three Michelin stars whose basic and modern cuisine is based on the tradition of the Adriatic Riviera which is inspired by the sea fragrance. Another stunt is Robert Cerea – chef of the legendary Da Vittorio restaurant from Bergamo awarded with three Michelin stars which is a member of the Relais & Châteaux hotel association since 2002.  

 

The second day of the conference brings expert lectures - a round table discussion whose main topic is the significance of the high - class hospitality industry in luxury hotels and is intended for the hotel industry - larger and small family hotels. On the panel discussion are represented the examples of best practice: Mandarin Oriental from Como, Borgo Sant'Andrea from Amalfi, Les Chais Monnet from Cognac in France and many others.

 

Six chefs with a total of eight Michelin stars gave their original lectures and presented their show cooking. At the same time, for all those who like to use high - quality meat in their cuisine, especially interesting Masterclass dedicated to meat is held in the nearby conference hall: 3 excellent chefs and 3 chefs in training  show how to use high - quality meat in the cuisine. 

 

And traditionally, three gala dinners led by Michelin-starred chefs take place during Istria Gourmet Festival. Everyone interested has the opportunity of meeting the world's top chefs, enjoy their delicacies and have an unforgettable experience in one of the most exclusive ambience in Istria. First gala dinner was led by Enrico Bartolini & Donato Ascani from the MUDEC restaurant, Milano ((Michelin 2*) and GLAM from Venice (Michelin 1*). The second dinner was led by Francesco Sposito Taverna Estia, Napoli (Michelin 2*), and third gala dinner was led  by Valerie Piccini from the Da Caino restaurant, Montemerano/Toskana (Michelin 2*).
