The CNN Traveller ''tasted'' Istria!

The last edition of this world's prestigious magazine reveals to its readers the beauties of Istria, peninsula of unique beauty, with ancient coastal cities and picturesque landscapes of the internal part hiding a various richness of delicacies. And the story about Istria begins already in the cover…

The readers of CNN Traveller, reaching almost one million units in some sixty countries worldwide, in the next edition of this prestigious magazine can discover the Tastes of Istria.

The magazine, established in 1998 as part of one world's most known brands – the CNN International and of the Time Warner Group, known for the authenticity and the originality of its travel proposals, has built the passion and devotion of its readers by means of excellent articles, very usually crucial for the selection of a new travel destination. The story about Istria begins already on the cover page of the November issue, embellished by the old town of Rovinj washed by the crystal clear Adriatic Sea in a dreamy autumn dusk.

Rudolf Abraham, awarded travel writer, driver by the passion for travel and the discovery of hidden places, that brought him to the central Asia and Patagonia, visits Croatia few times a year, at the beginning of next year prepares a trip along all the Croatian National parks.

Last September he first visited Istria and it was ''love at first sight''. Of that travel he remembers a peninsula of unique beauty, with ancient coastal cities and picturesque landscapes of the internal with medieval hilltop towns.

While looking for frescoes, unique pieces of art hidden in little istrian churches, in the typical istrian konobas and fancy restaurants, among the best in Croatian, he had the opportunity to taste the istrian delicacies: the istrian dried ham, the cheese, the typical istrian past called fuzi, gnocchi, seafood, venison, the istrian malvasia and the truffles... And after a successful truffle quest by means of trained dogs, he was able to taste the singular experience of tasting truffles in a giant frittata made during the traditional Subotina feast in Buzet.

The vicious circle of the istrian tastes is closed with a drop of the powerful grappa called biska , enriched with a sweet note of honey.
