The Njegoš library and the Ethnographic museum

Devotees of the written word have established the Njegoš Library with a collection of more than 5,500 books, open Tuesdays and Saturdays all year-round. According to the Charter of Peroj, a document that no longer exists in its original form, this village, the surrounding pasture grounds and woods were allocated permanently to the settlers from Montenegro. The Charter issued on July 21, 1657 states that Mišo Brajković with 10 families and Mihajlo Ljubotina with 5 families, 77 people altogether, came to Peroj from Montenegro which was at the time part of the Ottoman Empire.

Since the founding of the Society in 2000, the Museum has its permanent ethnographic collection entitled “THE PEROJ ALBUM“ consisting of artifacts that once belonged to the old families of Peroj. The Museum is open in the evening hours until the end of August. Interesting works of the “Moja Peroja” Art Colony can also be seen during the summer.
