As usual Meneghetti in Bale has proposed a wide range of excellent products. Today the three owners of this beautiful holiday farm founded in 2001, Romana Kajfež, Goran Hanžek and Miroslav Plišo, run 3 hectares of olive grove with 750 trees. In the last harvest 50 quintals of olives were produced and 50 purchased, with a yield of 10 hectolitres of extra virgin olive oil. There are three Extra Virgin selections: Izbor and the two Monocultivar Meneghetti, Leccino and the excellent Istarska Bjelica. The last one is an intense limpid golden yellow colour with light green hues. Its aroma is definite and complex, with rich vegetal hints of artichoke and chicory, together with distinct notes of aromatic herbs, especially mint and rosemary. Its taste is rotund and strong, with a flavour of thistle, lettuce and a spicy note of black pepper and almond. Bitterness is definite and pungency is distinct. It would be ideal on lentil appetizers, barbecued porcini mushrooms, marinated tuna, grilled radicchio, artichoke soups, pasta with sausages, baked blue fish, roast red meat or game, hard mature cheese.
