Description in the Flos Olei guide

We have been following the progress of this farm for many years. Today Agrolaguna is one of the biggest oil producers in Croatia and also a leader producer of wine and cheese in the area. It was founded in 1963 in the district of Poreč, a popular tourist resort not far from Trieste. The olive surface covers over 228 hectares with 65,000 trees. In the last harvest about 7,048 quintals of olives were produced, equal to a yield of almost 883 hectolitres of oil.

There are three Extra Virgin OL Istria, the Monocultivar Ascolana and the two Pdo Istra, the “basic” and the very good Picholine, which is an intense limpid golden yellow colour with slight green hues. Its aroma is ample and rotund, with fruity notes of unripe tomato, white apple and banana, together with fragrant hints of basil, mint and parsley. Its taste is fine and vegetal, with a flavour of chicory, lettuce and celery. Bitterness is distinct and pungency is present, with a sweet almond finish
